6:23 pm - Dreams and Philosophy!

I was amazed to chance across this community today, because I am a Ph.D. student in philosophy who specializes in dream skepticism. I was sorry to see that it hasn't been active in a while. But if anyone is still around and interested in the topic, I've written a paper on dreaming, imagination, and skepticism. Drop me a comment with an email address if you like, and I'll send you a copy. I very much welcome comments, as I hope to publish this paper.

1:29 am - Hello...

I was looking for a more enlightened commune and ya'll caught my attention. I was in some different trippin communes but they're all populated by idiots jsut trying to get fucked up and not expand their mind. If I brought up anything that my stimulate the mind they'd talk shit... I was quite disapointed. IN any case. I'm hear to share dreams in time... I get premontion dreams and practice mild lucid dreaming. I can control the variable in the senarios but generaly do not pick the senarios.. Its only been a while with no true reading just personal practice. I've also experienced collective thought through dreams with my girlfriend. I'm fairly versed in self developed and rudimentary metaphysics. You know flower of life, sacred geometry ect...I'd like get get some Info on other dreams you people have had. I'm going through a lot of consciousness changing. Extreame development in dreams and thought patterns. Through effort though. my friends visionaries born with it(bastards)They frequently get channeling episodes instead of dreams or sleep in which they're laying in there bed but they can see them selves thrid person... they can't move thier body they're just stuck there. When and if they can will them selves in a dicrection that can't control distance and warp to various areas of the earth. This is cover in a book I had skimmed through but it's achieved through Merkaba normaly. These people are doing it in their "sleep". I'd like to know if any of you do this and if your making progress controling moving. Apperently from what I've read its extreamly hard to move cause you mind has no bounds and pure will can an unstable vessel. Or at least something to that effect I need to re read it but it was a friends book. Also who here has experience in DMT? I perosnally think its the best thing ever and if you'd like to know about dieing and connecting with the collective consciousness of the world You need to bust up and order it from a ayahuasca website...erowid.org with list the procedure to make it. Or if your impatient americanchemicalsupply.com has 5meo DMT which is about the same but scary not too natural but you get the idea... everyone even vetrans of merkaba or jsut excessive drugs use come out going GODDAMN thats not what I expected. Ah yea. I've spoke entirly too long I'm goin to pass out now best wishes to all. OH pardon the typing I'm tired and dont want to proof read and when I type fast it's real bad and sometimes not even understandable I'll look it over tomorrow if its real bad I'll fix it so its easier to understand. I leave out words switch them and leave of s's and things like that.

I remember reading somewhere that most people don't dream in color. I don't remember the exact statistic, but it was something like 8 or 9 in 10 people don't dream in color.

What do you guys think about that? Personally, I don't think I've met anybody who doesn't dream in color. I'm sure I dream in color, because I remember objects sometimes by their colors.

But could it be that people add color to their dreams after they've had them? Maybe the part of the brain that sees color shuts down when people sleep? It doesn't seem to make sense to me, because color is a large part of how we define our world. Why would colors, then, be left out of dreams?

What do you guys think about all that?

I was wondering what everyone in this community thought of that quote from the X-files "A dream is an answer to a question we haven't yet learned how to ask."

10:22 am - Preminitions

Thinking about prophetic dreams, if when we dream we *do* go to another dimension or whatever, how do we have psychic dreams? Perhaps the other dimension is further ahead in time that what we are when we are 'awake'? Or are some people just psychic and when they're in their dream, their prophetic dream is just an vision whilst they're 'awake' - if that makes any sense...

Anyone here ever have a premonition? I had two before...

The first one happened when I was in grade 5. It was the first week of June. I had a dream about my Grandpa. I visited him a few weeks earlier and my dream was just a recount of everything that happened. Like, everything that happened during that visit, happened in my dream. But at the end, when I was leaving, and hugged my grandpa goodbye, he told me that it would be the last time I`d see him. I woke up and was a bit worried. I never said anything about it because I thought it was just a dream. A week later, we found out he had died. No one knew he had died because sometimes he just doesn`t answer the door or the phone. But finally the care-taker came and checked on him and found him. They said he had been dead for at least a week...about the same time I had my dream.

The second premonition I had I dreamt that a Queen, or someone who was of royal blood died. I wasn`t quite sure who it was. A few days later, the 'Queen Mum' died.

Coincidence? What do you think?

11:28 pm - New member...

Hi, I just joined this community. I came across it and it looked really interesting. I`m really into philosophy and dreams and stuff like that, but I`m only 13 and most of my friends aren`t as interested in the topic as I am.

I hope I`m not too young?

By the way, the name`s Chantelle.

6:04 pm - Strange dream

Last night I had the weirdest dream.

It was in the new place in my dreams. Perhaps I moved there, but I don't know. There's a seafront, similar to Altea in Spain, only the beach is right up next to the pavement, and it isn't hot. Along the road a bit to the right, about 2-300 yards is a rocks sea defense thing, with a small beach either side, sandy beaches but very small. The seas get deep very quickly, and its hard to see the bottom because the water isn't very clear, but it looks clean and blue. To the left of the street is some shops and a touristy stop selling souvenirs and beach items, then as you go along a bit further there are buildings, like apartment blocks, but they're old and black/grey ish, and sort of American... they're not very tall, 3 floors maybe, but there are those big metal pillars holding up a small part of it, to form sort of walkways that you get when a building has scaffolding, only its to the side of the building, the right side going along a small road with litter and usually cars, old run down ones. It isn't as hot as Spain there, kind of like Spain at easter in the evenings,... mild.

Read more...Collapse )

Anyone else had any weird dreams recently? And does anyone else dream of people who they don't know?

11:07 pm - :D

ok, so i finally did it, i had my first lucid dream! im so proud, ive been trying for a long while and it finally happened....i wont go into full detail but i was swimming (most of my dreams im in the water) and i went under and was breathing. usually i dont pay attention, but i was like, woah, im breathing underwater...i must be dreaming. so i played around with it for a little. then the people in my dream distracted me and i stopped experimenting with it. but im proud that for that short time i did it. now i just have to perfect it.

10:16 pm - Just wondering...

How many hours a night do you sleep? And do you sleep solid throughout the night?

Personally I will only sleep for a few hours before waking up for no apparent reason. Every single night I wake up in the early hours of the morning at least once. Even during the 'night mafia' dreams I have, I'll wake up. It's kind of strange...

10:37 pm - Is it possible?

Do any of you guys think that it is possible that we could pass into another 'realm' when we dream?

For the past year I've been having dreams which started with finding the number 1603/1306 lying around in my dreams. Soon after that, the number 1603 (I'm pretty sure thats what it was, either that or 1306) dissapeared from my dreams and the "Night Mafia" as I called them, appeared. They were at first dressed in black trousers, or skirts, with a black coat or tshirt, and they all carried guns. They didn't look like mafia people really, I just called them that. They'd chase me through different settings, usually cities though - especially through the underground system or train system. Occasionaly the chase would go on into the woods. If they caught or cornered me, they'd tell me to join them. When I said nothing, they'd shoot me in the head at point blank range and I'd die and wake up. I've had this type of dream for weeks on end, but recently the people in black have started to be dressed in any clothes, but still carry guns.
I've asked several people about their reoccuring dreams and have found two people who have similar dreams, with a number, and being chased. The three of us came to a brief conclusion that perhaps these dreams are us in a different world as we sleep, and our number is like a national-insurance number type thing, and we have been 'unplugged' so to speak.

Anyone else had similar experiences? Or could the dreams be a total coincidence?

5:18 pm - Welcome

Welcome to the Philosophy and Dreams community. I kind of set this community up to find other people who think like me. Ever seen the movie, The Matrix? What if the Matrix was real? Only it wasn't a computer program, more like the place we travel to in our dreams? When we dream we are transported into another 'dimesion' so to speak, and there we live another life. In the Matrix, Morpheus says to Neo, "Have you ever had a dream, Neo, that you were so sure was real? What if you were unable to wake from that dream? How would you know the difference, between the dream world...and the real world....?" What if living is the dream that we cannot awaken from?
